Winter came, the rabbit, the cat and the squirrel each built a nice house. The green one was the rabbit’s, the yellow one was the cat’s, and the squirrel’s was blue. The houses looked more beautiful in the sun.

They went to looked for food for winter, they took baskets with them. They found some food and then made their way home. On their way home it began to snow. When they got out of the forest they found it was all white in the fields.

The green house, yellow house and blue house were missing. There were only three white ones in the fields.

"En-hen-, where are our houses?” The rabbit said:” Why only three white houses?” But suddenly the rabbit cried out. There is a big red radish in the window. “Oh ,yes, it’s my green house.” He was so happy to find that. Then he opened the door and went in.

After a while, the cat smelt the fish-smell from the house. He cried out:’ there is a fish in this house, yes, it’s my yellow house.” The cat then went in happily.

"Oh dear, my house in missing.” the squirrel began to cry.

The rabbit and the cat heard him, they came out of their houses to help him.

"Don’t cry, we’ll help you to find your blue house.” They walked around the white field, walking here and there. They walked and walked till the rabbit tapped his head and said “how many houses are there in the field?” "Three!” The cat and the squirrel answered quickly.

"Then this one is the blue one. It’s your house." "Right!" The squirrel smiled and opened the door, he went in it. Yes, it is my house, my blue house. And soon he fond some pine nuts on the kitchen range.

Now the sun came out and the snow on the houses began to melt. And the three white houses became three colored houses once again.
